Tivoli Travel, a prominent member of the Global Travel Group, has announced its expansion by opening a new branch in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. This move restores the agency’s portfolio to three branches after a previous closure during the Covid pandemic. The new Cleckheaton branch occupies the former premises of 360 Global Travel, a fellow consortium member that closed following the retirement of its owner, Kevin Matthews.
Jo Richards, the director of Tivoli Travel, discovered the available premises through a local business connection on a Facebook page dedicated to Cleckheaton. Seizing the unexpected opportunity, Richards swiftly secured a five-year lease for the location, recognising its potential advantages over options in Lindley, such as a larger space and reduced rental costs.
Richards is proactive in fostering collaborations with other local businesses. She has initiated a WhatsApp group to enhance communication and mutual promotion among businesses in the area. Her efforts have already fostered a sense of welcome and community integration within Cleckheaton.
The Cleckheaton branch will be staffed by Lucy Mullen, a personal travel sales consultant with prior experience in the town. The agency plans to hire additional staff as part of its overarching strategy for growth and development on the high street. Richards added that the travel industry is seeing a return of personnel who had earlier left during the pandemic.
Currently, Tivoli Travel is also expanding its remote workforce with four homeworkers, a trend that began in 2020. Richards aims to continue this growth trajectory, identifying potential sites that could support further expansion, reflecting the increasing recruitment opportunities as the travel sector recovers.
Tivoli Travel’s strategic expansion in Cleckheaton highlights its agility and commitment to growth post-pandemic.
