Shearings has innovatively introduced a search feature catering to the growing number of solo travellers, allowing users to find single hotel rooms with ease. This enhancement is part of their broader initiative to support solo adventurers, providing detailed listings of 250 hotels that offer single rooms. The new tool promises a streamlined experience, displaying total costs with supplements inclusive, and emphasizes the prices for single supplements, which start at £39 for a four-day UK break and £69 for a similar European experience, such as exploring Christmas markets in Germany.
Responding to a surge in demand, Shearings has expanded its Solo Traveller collection by 40% compared to the previous year. This impressive increase has seen the addition of five new tours, bringing the total number to 13, all designed without single room supplements to cater exclusively to individual travellers. Among these, the Blenheim Palace, Oxford, and Royal Windsor tour stands out, offering a five-day self-drive package priced from £995. This luxurious experience includes a lunch cruise on the River Thames, as well as visits to the historic Blenheim Palace, Windsor Castle, and the renowned city of Oxford.
The latest offerings are designed with solo travellers in mind, acknowledging the increasing trend towards individual travel preferences. In addition to the aforementioned tour, new itineraries include captivating destinations such as Loch Ness & Inverness, the picturesque Lake District, the charming English Riviera, and the stunning West Coast of Scotland and the Isle of Bute.
Ashley Dellow, Shearings’ head of retail sales, highlighted the shift towards solo travel, noting, “The number of customers choosing to travel solo is increasing year-on-year, and we understand that not everyone wants to buddy up and share a room.” The introduction of the ‘Find Single Rooms’ search function is aimed at addressing this precise need, ensuring agents can seamlessly secure bookings for single-occupancy rooms.
The Solo Traveller collection continues to grow, appealing to those preferring the company of like-minded individuals while travelling alone. Dellow added that these dedicated tours are increasingly attracting solo travellers who appreciate the unique dynamic of travelling with others sharing a similar mindset.
This strategic expansion reaffirms Shearings’ commitment to accommodating the evolving preferences of solo travellers.
