Marella Cruises, after a significant pause, is poised to return to the Cypriot port of Limassol, with operations resuming on 7 May 2025. The cruise line last operated from Limassol in the winter of 2017, marking a notable comeback for summer 2025. This move not only revives Limassol as a crucial homeport but also offers varied itineraries beginning with sales on 9 November 2023.
The Marella Discovery 2 will be the cornerstone of this renewed venture, offering two compelling itineraries named Aegean Gems and Grecian Discovery. Aegean Gems promises an unforgettable exploration with stops in Kusadasi, Mykonos, Piraeus, Souda in Crete, and Rhodes, encompassing both bustling and serene locales.
Grecian Discovery provides an insightful journey through Turkey and several revered Greek destinations, including Piraeus, Santorini, Crete, and Rhodes. This itinerary reflects Marella’s commitment to delivering enriching travel experiences that capture the essence and allure of the Aegean region.
Beyond cruising, Marella introduces an extensive selection of cruise and stay packages. Guests can choose from more than 200 hotels across seasons in destinations such as Palma, Corfu, Dubrovnik, and Cyprus. This initiative allows travellers to extend their holiday experiences beyond sea voyages, tapping into the rich cultural and leisure activities each location offers.
Chris Hackney, Tui UK and Ireland’s managing director of cruise, expressed enthusiasm for the summer 2025 launch, emphasizing the continuous enhancement and adaptation of Marella’s offerings. According to Hackney, the focus remains on new destinations and itineraries, as well as innovative upgrades to the fleet. Meanwhile, Marella Voyager, the newest ship launched in June 2023, will continue its operations from Palma, Mallorca, underscoring the brand’s expansive reach in the Mediterranean.
Marella Cruises’ strategic return to Limassol signifies a robust expansion in its European itineraries, heralding a new chapter for Mediterranean cruising.
