- Founders have personal experiences with each destination, ensuring authentic and engaging travel experiences.
Jules Purnell and Rob Stables, who first embarked on the journey of Mount Kilimanjaro two decades ago, have launched Earth Dog Travel, a venture aimed at providing bespoke adventure experiences. With Purnell’s background in media and advertising and Stables’ extensive experience in the travel industry, including positions at STA Travel, the duo combines their expertise to offer something unique in the adventure travel market.
Earth Dog Travel brings nearly 50 privately guided tours to the table, encompassing a wide range of destinations such as Bhutan, Bolivia, Colombia, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Vietnam. Each location has been handpicked, having been visited by one or both of the founders, adding a layer of personal connection and authenticity to their travel offerings. “We wanted to create something that stood out, that was personal and connected to the places we love,” Stables stated.
The travel company targets clients who prefer privacy and personal experiences over group tours. With options available in Active, Explore, Honeymoon, and Family categories, the packages cater to a variety of interests and travel needs. “Even our honeymoon and family trips will have travellers exploring by foot or bike,” Stables noted, highlighting the unconventional yet engaging approach of their tours.
In a bid to positively impact local communities, Earth Dog Travel collaborates with local operators, ensuring their tours are both enriching and sustainable. Experiences such as Sherpa cooking classes in Nepal or visiting women’s centres along the Congo Nile Trail are among the unique offerings that connect travellers deeply with local cultures and environments.
Stables expressed a commitment to ethical tourism, mentioning efforts like using operators who train female guides in Nepal and support community projects. The name ‘Earth Dog,’ suggested by Stables’ niece, encapsulates the spirit of exploration that inspires their global adventures.
To celebrate their launch, Earth Dog Travel is offering a 15% discount on all tours, providing an incentive for travellers to embark on these carefully curated journeys.
Earth Dog Travel represents a passionate fusion of travel expertise and community engagement, setting a promising course in the adventure travel sector.
