Virgin Voyages has unveiled a significant expansion of its offerings with the introduction of 19 new ports and 27 innovative itineraries, set to sail through until April 2025. This expansion reflects Virgin Voyages’ commitment to broadening their cruise experiences and includes exciting new destinations in both Australia and the Caribbean.
Nevertheless, the company has encountered unforeseen obstacles, particularly concerning the debut of their fourth ship, the Brilliant Lady. Scheduled to commence operations at the close of this year, its launch has now been postponed due to unexpected construction, supply chain, and staffing challenges. The company is actively evaluating new launch dates, showing their determination to overcome these hurdles.
Among the fresh itineraries, the cruises from Portsmouth, operated by the Resilient Lady, are noteworthy. These cruises are set to run from mid-August to September in 2024, adding a distinctive flavour to the existing Seachange Series. These ‘reimagined repositioning voyages’ are designed to prolong guests’ vacations, offering the Virgin experience in a unique manner.
With the launch of Virgin Voyages in the UK being just two years ago, the company has reported a dramatic increase in its repeat sailor rates, tripling over the past year. This surge is attributed to their innovative approach, as detailed by the vice-president of UK and international sales, Shane Riley. He noted, “In the last year alone, our repeat sailor rates have tripled. What’s even better is these loyal travellers want more – so we’ve listened.”
Despite the delay of the Brilliant Lady, the company upholds its vision for offering exceptional cruise experiences. Shane Riley expressed his regret over the unforeseen delay, but reassured, “We are sorry that our sailors who were excited about Brilliant Lady will have to wait a little bit longer, but we know they’ll love the itineraries as much as we do.”
Virgin Voyages continues to innovate and expand, undeterred by current challenges.
