Ambassador Cruise Line has made a strategic move by joining Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), a step aimed at enhancing its brand awareness and solidifying its position within the increasingly competitive UK cruise industry. This membership grants the Essex-based operator access to a host of CLIA’s in-person and virtual events, learning programmes, and opportunities to share valuable insights and resources with industry stakeholders.
Participation in major industry events such as the annual CLIA Conference in May and CLIA Cruise Week, scheduled from 16th to 22nd September, forms a critical component of Ambassador’s strategy to elevate its profile. Such events are pivotal for networking and establishing more profound ties within the sector, which will be beneficial as the company seeks to expand its market share in the UK.
According to Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland Director, Ambassador has rapidly become a significant player in the domestic market. “We’re very pleased to welcome them as a member,” Harmer stated, acknowledging their swift establishment as a reputable brand. The support from CLIA is expected to bolster Ambassador’s efforts in developing robust relationships with trade partners across the UK and Ireland.
Christian Verhounig, Ambassador Cruise Line’s CEO, views this collaboration as a natural evolution of their brand’s journey. “In a short space of time, Ambassador has cemented its position as a strong new cruise brand with a clear marketing proposition,” he remarked, emphasising that this alliance with the world’s largest cruise industry trade association introduces a level of trust and credibility that can significantly impact travel brand selection.
Since its inception in April 2021, Ambassador has targeted cruise enthusiasts over 50, offering an array of multi-generational sailings. The line operates from seven ports across Great Britain, utilising two ships: Ambience, which began its voyages in April 2022, and Ambition, launched in May 2023. Recent expansions in their sales team highlight Ambassador’s dedication to strengthening its foothold in the UK trade.
