These developments are marked by a notable rise in accredited agents, sold-out events, and increased participation in industry gatherings. Furthermore, a series of webinars has attracted record audiences, reflecting heightened interest across various cruise sectors. An upcoming annual conference in Southampton is also on the horizon, further cementing Clia’s influence.
The cruise industry has embarked on a remarkable growth trajectory, as demonstrated by the record membership levels achieved by Clia UK & Ireland. The organisation has reported an impressive increase, with its agent membership reaching an unprecedented count, boosted by a four per cent expansion in just the first quarter of the year. Accredited agents, distinguished by their completion of key Clia training courses, have seen a substantial year-on-year rise of 22%. This growth signifies the industry’s robust commitment to enhancing professional competence and service delivery in the cruise sector.
Such advancements are further highlighted by the complete sell-out of Clia’s forthcoming events in April and May, including a special expedition cruise event in Dublin and a summit taking place on the Seabourn Venture in Greenwich. Additionally, a river cruise dinner in Glasgow aligns with this trend of garnering significant attention and participation.
Parallel to these events are two newly launched webinar series, ‘Focus On’ and ‘In Conversation’, which have resonated well with the audience, attaining record attendee numbers. The upcoming session on April 25 is anticipated to continue this trend, underscoring the strong interest from professionals eager to engage with industry insights and discussions.
Anticipation is further fuelled by the annual Clia conference scheduled for May 23-25 in Southampton, described as the largest of its kind in Europe. With over 800 delegates registered, the event promises comprehensive opportunities for networking, learning, and engagement through ship visits, dynamic conference sessions, a vibrant industry trade fair, and a formal evening event.
Andy Harmer, managing director of Clia UK & Ireland, encapsulates the sentiment, expressing, “It’s amazing to see these levels of interest from agents in terms of industry networking, engaging with all cruise sectors including expedition and river, and gaining first-hand product knowledge.” His remarks reflect a broader industry sentiment of optimism and enthusiasm, forecasting a promising year ahead for the trade.
Clia UK & Ireland’s milestones mark a vibrant and promising phase for the cruise industry, underscoring its steady momentum and growing appeal.
