This resulted in a 44% increase in bookings compared to the previous year, demonstrating the potent combination of seasonal appeal and strategic promotions. Moreover, the bookings made through both trade and direct channels experienced an impressive 47% rise, emphasising the campaign’s widespread reach and customer appeal.
Particularly noteworthy was the 40% uplift in bookings for the latter part of May, including the Whitsun half-term, illustrating a sustained interest in domestic travel. The increased temperatures played a pivotal role in enticing last-minute planners seeking a May getaway, supported by Hoseasons’ multi-channel marketing efforts.
Luke Hansford, the Senior Vice President of Supply at Hoseasons, highlighted the direct correlation between sunny weather and increased interest in domestic holidays. He stated that success hinges on having compelling offers ready to convert interest into bookings, a principle exemplified by the current figures. “It’s no secret that interest in domestic holidays picks up when the sun comes out,” Hansford remarked, underscoring the essential blend of favourable conditions and strategic marketing.
As a testament to their effective strategy, Devon led in terms of popularity, followed by other picturesque regions such as Cornwall, Yorkshire and the Lake District. The bookings for May arrivals in Devon and Cornwall saw a striking 175% and 74% rise respectively, compared to the same time last year. This growth underscores the regions’ appeal amidst the broader trend of increasing interest in local tourism.
To capitalise on this momentum, Hoseasons is promoting its Great British Super Sale, offering discounts of up to 30% on holidays until late September. This promotion spans various advertising platforms, including social media, display ads, and partnership collaborations, effectively broadening its reach.
