The Lincolnshire Co-op Travel Group has marked a new achievement by setting a sales record at its annual Cruise and Escorted Touring Show. This event, which has been running since 2009, except for the pandemic years of 2021 and 2022, saw more than 500 people gather at Lincolnshire Showground’s Epic Centre. The show facilitated interactions between customers and the 13 agents from the Lincolnshire Co-op Travel Group, resulting in exceptional booking numbers that have set a new precedent for future events.
The show provided a platform for 21 suppliers to engage directly with potential customers. This in-person format allowed representatives to offer their deep knowledge and insights into the myriad options available for cruise and tour itineraries. Of particular note, Mediterranean and Caribbean cruises were the most sought-after packages, reflecting a strong preference among attendees.
As expressed by Wayne Dennett, manager of Lincolnshire Co-op Travel Group, the results were overwhelmingly positive. He described his reaction as being “over the moon” with the performance of the agents and highlighted the overall enjoyment experienced by both organisers and participants. This sentiment underscores the advantages of hosting such a comprehensive and interactive event.
Integral to the show’s success was the ‘Meet the Experts Theatre’ where detailed presentations were delivered, enhancing customer understanding of travel options. Additionally, a pre-recorded webinar produced by P&O Cruises supplemented the in-person experiences, offering a blend of direct interaction and informational content.
Moreover, a dedicated booking area staffed by the Co-op’s agents allowed for immediate bookings, ensuring that the enthusiasm generated by the event translated into tangible sales. This setup enabled the seamless transition from interest to purchase, demonstrating the efficiency of well-organised travel fairs.
The Lincolnshire Co-op Cruise and Escorted Touring Show highlighted the continuing value of face-to-face engagement in achieving record sales.
