Aqua Expeditions, renowned for its luxury exploration cruises, is set to extend its fleet into the East African seas come 2025. This strategic expansion aims to deliver an opulent sailing experience through the exotic locales of the Seychelles and Tanzania. The commencement of these itineraries marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to offering unique and sustainable travel experiences across a range of sought-after and lesser-known destinations.
Starting in December 2025, adventurers will have the option of embarking on one of four meticulously crafted itineraries. These journeys vary in length, between five and nine nights, each promising an enthralling exploration of the inner and outer islands of the Seychelles. For those desiring a more comprehensive voyage, the itineraries can be combined for a remarkable 14-night navigation through this enchanting archipelago.
In addition to the Seychelles, Aqua Expeditions is set to explore the islands of Tanzania with 10- and 11-night sailings. This mixed itinerary offers a rare glimpse into the stunning biodiversity and untouched landscapes of East Africa, including the renowned Aldabra Atoll. This UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the world’s most pristine ecosystems, shelters over 150,000 giant tortoises, making it a highlight of these voyages.
Francesco Galli Zugaro, CEO and owner of Aqua Expeditions, has long harboured the ambition to venture into East Africa’s uncharted territories. His vision for luxury expeditions in this region underscores the company’s dedication to exploring destinations that lie off the beaten path. Galli Zugaro notes, ‘It has always been a dream of mine to venture into East Africa and explore this part of the world on a luxury expedition ship.’
Founded in 2007 with its initial operations in the Peruvian Amazon, Aqua Expeditions has successfully expanded its footprint to encompass eight destinations. Currently, the company’s fleet comprises three river ships and two superyachts, with this latest project marking its inaugural foray into East African waters. Such growth is emblematic of Aqua Expeditions’ strategy to enclose its reputation as a purveyor of extravagant, eco-conscious exploration across a third continent.
The expansion into East Africa heralds a new chapter for Aqua Expeditions in delivering unique luxury experiences.
