South Yorkshire-based law firm Taylor Emmet has demonstrated its commitment to community service by sponsoring the training of a new assistance dog. The law firm is supporting a Sheffield-based charity, Support Dogs, by funding the training of a Labrador puppy named Emmet. This young dog, rescued by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, is just starting his journey towards becoming a vital aid to someone in need.
The firm’s backing provides invaluable resources, facilitating training that could potentially position Emmet as an autism assistance dog, a disability assistance dog, or a seizure alert dog. Emmet’s backstory is heartening; born at Battersea after his mother was taken in while pregnant, the young pup now carries the legacy of the law firm’s former partner, Lewis Emmet, in his name.
In addition to financial backing, Taylor Emmet’s support extends to active fundraising efforts. Over the past two years, the firm has organised numerous events, including skydives, family fundays, bake sales, and sponsored walks, demonstrating a robust commitment to their cause. The firm’s marketing manager, Josh Proud, expressed pride in the team’s efforts and looks forward to Emmet’s progress.
Chris Daykin, corporate partnerships manager at Support Dogs, praised Taylor Emmet for their substantial financial contributions, acknowledging the firm’s unwavering commitment to supporting Emmet through his training journey. Emmet will undergo his initial training while living with volunteer puppy socialisers in Wakefield, marking the commencement of an essential training phase.
The partnership between Battersea and Support Dogs was overseen by Pat Stafford, who holds dual roles as the chief executive of Battersea and chair of Assistance Dogs UK. Such collaborations are pivotal in ensuring that resources are effectively utilised to maximise the potential of dogs like Emmet, enhancing the quality of life for their future handlers.
Through their sponsorship, Taylor Emmet significantly contributes to the training of assistance dogs, epitomising corporate social responsibility.
