In a notable celebration of its long-standing presence in the legal industry, Banner Jones, a prominent law firm with offices in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Mansfield, and Dronfield, recently commemorated its 145th anniversary. More than 130 employees participated in this annual event, held on 1 December at the Chesterfield football ground, which served as a fitting venue to mark the company’s historical roots within the community.
Simon Wright, the firm’s CEO, expressed his gratitude towards the entire team for their dedication and efforts, highlighting the pivotal role they have played in ensuring the firm’s ongoing success and growth. His speech paid particular tribute to those who have supported both the company and local organisations throughout the East Midlands, showcasing the firm’s commitment to community engagement.
Banner Jones has a rich heritage, initially established as Jones Middleton, with its offices on Chesterfield’s Glumangate dating back to 1878. This historical landmark defines the firm’s enduring legacy as one of the oldest surviving businesses in the area. The firm’s longstanding tradition of supporting local charities is reflected through its consistent fundraising efforts for organisations such as Ashgate Hospice, St Luke’s Hospice, and The Samaritans.
The company is also dedicated to the professional development and well-being of its staff. Currently, the firm supports nine trainee solicitors in their solicitor training, alongside various apprentices working towards qualifications like CILEX and legal diplomas. Such initiatives underscore Banner Jones’ commitment to nurturing the future of the legal profession.
The impressive tenure of its employees is a testament to the firm’s supportive work environment. Remarkably, 15% of the employees have remained with the company for over 20 years, with CEO Simon Wright himself having developed his career within the firm, starting as a work experience student at the age of 16 in 1987.
Banner Jones continues to stand as a pillar of legal expertise and community support, evolving through its rich history to meet modern demands.
