A new care home is set to be constructed in Davenham, near Northwich, catering specifically to those in need of dementia and 24-hour elderly nursing care. The proposed facility will be located just off London Road, offering significant specialist support in an area with an unmet demand for such services.
Designed as a two-storey complex, the care home will feature facilities including a cinema room, library, hair salon, and a communal café. Residents will have en-suite bedrooms, though no individual living or kitchen spaces are planned. In keeping with modern standards, solar panels will be installed, ensuring a more sustainable operation.
The project, spearheaded by Liberty Care Developments alongside Edward Joseph Dougherty III, Lynette Marie Napier, and Metacre Limited, is anticipated to bring 65 new full-time equivalent positions to the area. This development not only addresses healthcare needs but also brings economic benefits, impacting the construction sector and local supply chains.
A planning application has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council. Consultants from Savills have stated that the project will offer specialised dementia and round-the-clock elderly nursing care. Communal amenities are planned comprehensively, including lounges, activity rooms, and ample visitor parking, reflecting the design’s emphasis on community and accessibility.
According to the planning documentation, there is a pressing local need, identified within three miles of the site, for increased accommodation options for the elderly. Current facilities fall short by 272 wetroom beds, including planned developments. The proposed care home aims to meet this shortfall while integrating seamlessly into the local environment, avoiding significant environmental impacts.
The proposed care home in Davenham is a strategic development aiming to fulfil a critical local need, promising both healthcare and economic advantages.
