Deer Jet makes its appearance in Paris

The 787 Dream Jet, which is the first one all over the world came to Paris on June 28, 2017 and started its three-day itinerant exhibition of Paris Station, which is called “Dreams Encounter the World”, the company said.

Again, Deer Jet shows the customers worldwide the art style of top and upscale business travel provider in the capital of fashion and art.

Deer Jet has conducted its global itinerant exhibition for worldwide market since last September when the 787 Dream Jet came into service. The 787 Dream Jet has flying across seven cities in Asia, Europe, Africa, North America; it adds the local culture essence at different legs of the itinerant exhibition, combines the art and travel perfectly, and make all the guests who is personal on the scene full of praise.

The 787 Dream Jet takes 787-8 as the prototype, which is designed by the famous French aircraft interior stylist, Jacques Pierre jean who took two years and a half to design. It is the only corporate aircraft 787 which started commercial operation around the world and processed by Hainan Airlines Group. Deer Jet, the professional corporate aircraft company subordinated to Hainan Airlines Group, registered the aircraft in BAS Guernsey by its Hong Kong branch to provide a more comprehensive service for the global upscale business travel market.

Deer Jet has been in operation since 1995, becoming the biggest business aviation company in Asia in 2001.

There is a big demand for the 787 Dream Jet in international market now. In order to enhance the service capacity, Hainan Airlines Group proclaimed that they would import the second dream business liner 787 BBJ and hand over operations to Deer Jet so that Hainan Airlines Group could organize the biggest fleet in the world and take up the bigger portion of the international upscale business travel markets.

Southwest Airlines makes leadership changes

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) has announced several leadership changes, the company said.

Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Randy Sloan is leaving the company in mid-July. Kathleen Wayton, who is currently the airline´s Vice President of Corporate Delivery–Operations & Reservations, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer upon Sloan´s departure.

Additionally, Southwest has hired Stan Alexander into a new role of Vice President & Chief Technology Architect, effective July 10. Alexander will lead the Technology Teams responsible for Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data & Analytics, Enterprise Data Delivery, and Enterprise Integration Strategy–working across the organization to drive execution across multiple major initiatives.

Southwest is also promoting Anthony Gregory as the new Vice President of Ground Operations, effective July 1, 2017. Gregory will be responsible for a team of more than 18,000 Employees in providing a safe, reliable, and efficient experience to Southwest Customers.

Boeing Global Services starts operations

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has launched its third major business unit called Boeing Global Services, which will operate alongside Commercial Airplanes and Defense, Space & Security, the company said.

This new dedicated services business focuses on the needs of government, space and commercial customers worldwide.

Boeing Chairman, President and CEO Dennis Muilenburg announced the formation of Global Services in November 2016 to expand Boeing´s share of a global–and growing–commercial and government services market worth an estimated $2.6 trillion over the next decade.

Boeing has been working since November to fully define and structure the integrated new business, which combines key capabilities of the company´s former Commercial Aviation Services and Global Services & Support groups. Led by President and CEO Stan Deal, Global Services will bring innovative service solutions to customers in four key capability areas: Supply Chain, Engineering, Modifications & Maintenance, Digital Aviation & Analytics, and Training & Professional Services.

Global Services, headquartered in the Dallas area, was formed by integrating the services capabilities of the government, space and commercial sectors into a single, customer-focused business. Operating as a third business unit of Boeing, Global Services provides agile, cost-competitive services to commercial and government customers worldwide.

Arup seeks to be first airport to obtain LEED Platinum certification

Arup, the global design and consulting firm in the built environment, has been appointed by Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de Mexico´s (GACM) to develop the sustainability plan for the Mexico City New International Airport (NAICM), the company said.

NAICM aims to triple Mexico City´s existing airport capacity (passengers and cargo) in its final phase of operation and to promote economic development in the Mexico City metropolitan area. It is expected to start operations by late 2020, with a capacity of receiving around 68 million passengers.

GACM´s goal is for the NAICM to be environmentally sustainable and to be the first airport in the world to obtain LEED Platinum certification v4 at its main terminal. GACM seeks to adopt international best practices related to green airport operations by using renewable energy resources, promoting the use of public transport, and developing programs that would protect the environment, including water resources, energy efficiency, waste management, existing wildlife, and vegetation.

Discovery Channel and Southwest bring never-before-seen episode onboard

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) and Discovery Channel are teaming up to bring television´s most anticipated summer event, Shark Week, to new heights, the company said.

Southwest revealed a Shark Week- themed 737-700 aircraft with an all new, larger-than-life underwater scene depicting five shark species along the fuselage. The plane will fly the skies as part of the Southwest fleet through Aug. 31, 2017, as millions tune in to Discovery´s Shark Week airing July 23 through July 30, 2017.

While Shark Week fans anxiously await the July 23 premiere of Shark Week, Southwest Customers are getting in on the jawsome action early. Continuing throughout the summer, Customers onboard WiFi-equipped aircraft can enjoy a pre-premiere episode of African Shark Safari through Southwest´s onboard entertainment portal via the Shark Week ondemand Channel. Customers flying during Shark Week can tune-in live via the entertainment portal live TV on Discovery Channel July 23 through July 30. Southwest and Discovery will also host a surprise takeover on a special flight to kick off Shark Week!

Platform9 raises USD 22m Series C funding

Platform9, an open-source-as-a-service company, has raised USD 22 million in Series C funding led by Canvas Ventures, the company said.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) also participated in the round, as did existing investors Redpoint Ventures and Menlo Ventures. The funding round, which brings Platform9´s total capital raised to date to USD 36.5 million, allows the company to scale its pioneering cloud delivery model, which makes it easy to deploy, manage and maintain hybrid clouds with popular cloud frameworks, such as Kubernetes, OpenStack and Fission.

The new capital enables Platform9 to scale its global salesforce, product and marketing teams, as well as boost engineering investments as it expands its innovation agenda to deliver new capabilities for hybrid clouds.

Union recall initiated by Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants

A recall of members of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 556 executive board is finally underway, months after recall petitions were delivered to the union and after a lawsuit was filed to enforce the rights of those union members demanding the recall, the group said.

Recall petitions are currently being verified by an ad-hoc committee.

TWU Local 556 is the union of the Southwest Airlines flight attendants. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, TWU Local 556 represents more than 14,000 members.

Jeanna Jackson, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant and TWU Local 556 member in good standing is spearheading the recall effort on behalf of thousands of her fellow flight attendants seeking a change in union leadership.

A federal lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, but it was later dismissed without prejudice to refiling after the union indicated it would cooperate with the recall process outlined in its by-laws. Representatives for the union have indicated that the initial recall petition verification should be complete by July 31, 2017.

The recall petition is not an action against Southwest Airlines, rather, it is a governance option authorized by the by-laws of the union.

The flight attendants the recall effort are represented by Joshua A. Verde of The Verde Law Firm, PLLC in Houston, Texas.

Qualcomm extends cash tender offer for shares of NXP

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) has announced that Qualcomm River Holdings B.V., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm, has extended the offering period of its previously announced cash tender offer to purchase all of the outstanding common shares of NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ: NXPI), the company said.

The tender offer is being made pursuant to the Purchase Agreement, dated as of October 27, 2016, by and between Qualcomm River Holdings B.V. and NXP. The tender offer is now scheduled to expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on July 27, 2017, unless extended or earlier terminated, in either case pursuant to the terms of the Purchase Agreement.

American Stock Transfer & Trust company, LLC, the depositary for the tender offer, has advised Qualcomm River Holdings B.V. that as of 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on June 27, 2017, 42,219,394 NXP common shares (excluding 18,439 shares tendered pursuant to guaranteed delivery procedures that have not yet been delivered in settlement or satisfaction of such guarantee), representing approximately 12.5% of the outstanding NXP common shares, have been validly tendered pursuant to the tender offer and not properly withdrawn.
