Atlas Air Worldwide takes delivery of Boeing 767-300ER from AerCap

AerCap Holdings N.V. (NYSE:AER) has delivered a Boeing 767-300ER to a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAWW), a global provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services, the company said.

The Boeing 767-300ER, powered by GE engines, was manufactured in 1997 and is the seventh of eight 767-300ERs AerCap is delivering to Atlas Air Worldwide.

AerCap, an independent aircraft leasing company, engages in the leasing, financing, sale, and management of commercial aircraft and engines in China, the Netherlands, the United States, and internationally. The company serves approximately 200 customers in roughly 80 countries with comprehensive fleet solutions. It is headquartered in Dublin, with offices in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Shannon, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Singapore, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Seattle, and Toulouse.

Hainan Airlines to be first user of Honeywell GoDirect maintenance service

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has signed an agreement for Hainan Airlines (HNA) to become the first airline to use Honeywell´s GoDirect Maintenance Service program, which uses connectivity and data analytics to improve maintenance operations and reduce equipment downtime, the company said.

HNA´s current fleet of more than 50 Airbus A330s will be outfitted with Honeywell´s Connected Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) predictive maintenance service to improve fleet availability by identifying potential mechanical issues or failures before they happen.

Honeywell will also outfit HNA´s future fleet of more than 40 A330s with the same service, totaling more than 90 A330s using this Honeywell GoDirect Maintenance Service.

As part of its suite of Connected Aircraft Services, Honeywell´s GoDirect Maintenance Services program will help airlines ensure on-time departures, manage unscheduled maintenance, and provide a better experience for passengers.

CPI Aero delivers first F-35 lock assemblies to Lockheed Martin

CPI Aerostructures, Inc. (NYSE MKT: CVU) made its first delivery to Lockheed Martin Company (NYSE: LMT) under a multi-year contract to manufacture lock assemblies for the F-35A Conventional Takeoff and Landing (´CTOL´) variant aircraft, the company said.

In June 2015, CPI Aero announced a multi-million dollar contract with Lockheed Martin´s Aeronautics division to provide four different lock assemblies for the arresting gear door on 289 F-35A CTOL aircraft, with a single option for an additional 459 F-35A CTOL aircraft.

Douglas McCrosson, President and CEO of CPI Aero, stated, “Our first delivery for the F-35 program is a significant achievement for CPI Aero. In addition to being responsible for manufacturing the locks, this milestone required CPI Aero, for the first time, to develop functional acceptance test procedures and design specialized testing equipment to validate that the lock assemblies meet the required performance characteristics.”

CPI Aero is a US manufacturer of structural assemblies and value-added kits for fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft in both the commercial aerospace and defense markets. The company also manufactures pod-based, airborne avionics systems, is either a Tier 1 supplier to aircraft OEMs or a Tier 2 subcontractor to major Tier 1 manufacturers, and is a prime contractor to the US Department of Defense, primarily the Air Force.

Southwest report outlines commitment to performance, people, planet

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) has released its 2016 Southwest Airlines One Report, which demonstrates the airline´s continued commitment to the triple bottom line of performance, people, and planet, the airline said.

In the performance category, highlights include reported record net income of USD 2.2bn.

In the people category, the company reports that it gave more than USD 25m total corporate monetary, in-kind, and ticket donations.

In the planet category, Southwest kept 3,348 tons of waste out of landfills in 2016 through the airline´s repurposing and recycling efforts.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) operates a network of 101 destinations in the United States and eight additional countries with more than 3,900 departures a day during peak travel season. Its 54,000 employees serve more than 100 million customers annually.

Speedcast secures contracts with oil and gas operators

Speedcast International Limited (ASX: SDA), a provider of managed, remote communication and IT solutions, has secured four new contracts for professional services with oil and gas operators in the North Sea and Asia-Pacific region, the company said.

“Our ability to match the correct personnel to the job, as well as the depth of expertise and flexibility we provide our customers, is key to our professional services model,” said Keith Johnson, EVP Energy, Speedcast.

In the North Sea, Speedcast will provide engineering and systems integration support through the testing and commissioning of various equipment including public address and general alarm (PA/GA) systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV), ultra high frequency (UHF) and very high frequency(VHF) radios, Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), and radar and aeronautical navigation beacons during the final part of a shipyard fit-out phase before providing ongoing support during the critical period from sail-away to first oil.

Additionally, Speedcast has expanded its professional services role with two major operators in the North Sea to complement and provide network support to the specialist teams who it already supports through radio operator, telecom technician and project/service delivery positions.

Finally, Speedcast will provide engineering resources to another large oil and gas operator to help commission the telecommunication services on a new platform in Malaysia.

Singapore Airlines to utilize IBM MobileFirst for iOS apps

IBM (NYSE: IBM) has announced that Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group has selected MobileFirst for iOS apps for its flight operations processes, the company said.

With apps, Fly Now and Roster for iPad, pilots will be equipped with relevant information and flight-related updates.

Use of the apps is expected to enhance pilot productivity by digitizing manual processes related to airline operations and regulations.

From mid-June this year, SIA pilots will have access to these two new iOS apps, as part of a suite of apps installed on company-issued iPads.

CommAgility, IDY to develop 4G and 5G small cell technology

Wireless Telecom Group(NYSE MKT: WTT) company CommAgility´s software and hardware products have been chosen by IDY Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, for a research project to advance 4G and 5G small cell technology, the company said.

IDY is licensing CommAgility´s SmallCellPHY and SmallCellSTACK software, which provide a complete LTE Physical Layer and LTE Protocol Stack for small cell eNodeB products. CommAgility has integrated the software onto its AMC-K2L-RF2 ARM- and DSP-based processing card, which includes two wideband RF transceiver channels.

CommAgility and IDY are working together, with support from CommAgility´s Japanese distributor StarBridge, to deploy the integrated hardware and software in a variety of 4G and 5G research and development programs. The solution meets the demanding quality requirements for the Japanese market.

Deer Jet displays Dream Jet in Seattle

Deer Jet has added a second Dream Jet to its managed fleet, and brought the first 787 Dream Jet to Seattle, the birthplace of Boeing, for its first display in the US, the company said.

The showcase, held at the Museum of Flight, was the sixth stop for the world´s first 787 Dream Jet after Hong Kong, Shanghai, London, Dublin, and Doha.

During a press conference held at the end of the display, Mr. Adam Tan, CEO of HNA Group, Deer Jet´s parent company, said, “The first 787 Dream Jet is a masterpiece. After its global success we are very pleased to add a second one.”

The aircraft typically resides at Hong Kong International Airport operated by Deer Jet´s subsidiary Hong Kong Jet. The price to charter the 787 Dream Jet is RMB 500,000 per hour (about USD 70,815).

Deer Jet operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of HNA Group. The company manages and operates a 90-strong aircraft fleet including the world´s only 787 Dream Jet, with the second 787 Dream Jet to be added.
