Logos' wide-area sensor completes flight test on Integrator UAS

Logos Technologies has successfully conducted advanced flight testing of the company´s Redkite wide-area sensor aboard the Insitu Integrator unmanned aircraft system (UAS), the company said.

The demonstration, which took place in Boardman, Oregon, confirmed that Redkite could capture stabilized, wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) and successfully stream it to multiple handheld devices on the ground from the payload bay of the tactical Group 3 UAS.

This is the second successful airborne test with the Integrator.

Redkite is compact, lightweight and is available as a platform-agnostic pod for manned and unmanned aircraft, and as an integrated payload module.

Both versions image over 12 square kilometers at once, and store up to eight hours of geo-tagged mission data for analysis.

Comtech wins USD 4.2m contract to provide aviation terminals to the DLA

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq: CMTL) Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, which is part of Comtech´s Government Solutions segment, has been awarded a five-year, Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract for providing Blue Force Tracking (BFT-1) Aviation Terminals to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the company said.

This contract is in addition to the previously announced USD 42.7m contract to provide sustainment support for the BFT-1 program.

Under this contract, DLA will procure Comtech´s AVX-06-203 Aviation Satellite Communication Transceivers. This contract has a single 5-year base period from April 20, 2017 through April 19, 2022 and a maximum value of USD 4.2m.

Germantown, Maryland-based Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation is engaged in the provision of satellite-based packet data communication systems and location and messaging services through the use of advanced communication and network technology.

Delta, Aeromexico launch agreement to operate transborder flights between US, Mexico

Grupo Aeroméxico, S.A.B. de C.V. (Mexico: AEROMEX.MX) and Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) have begun their joint cooperation agreement (JCA) to operate transborder flights between the United States and Mexico, Delta Airlines said.

Delta and Aeromexico have confirmed with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and Mexico´s Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) that they have completed the steps required to launch the JCA.

Additional service and more convenient schedules will benefit customers of both companies.

Delta will provide service in the United States through its connecting hubs in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, Salt Lake City and Seattle; Aeromexico will offer greater access to Mexico through its hubs in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara.

Atlanta, Georgia-based Delta Air Lines serves nearly 180 million customers each year. Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 323 destinations in 57 countries on six continents. The airline employs more than 80,000 employees worldwide and operates a mainline fleet of more than 800 aircraft.

JetBlue's Mint Experience adds artisanal ice creams

JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) has announced its newest addition to its Mint experience with a locally curated ice cream program that features favorite flavors from artisanal ice makers based in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and San Francisco, the airline said.

Local purveyors will offer a rotating selection of ice cream flavors giving Mint customers a taste of the region from where their flight departs.

Brooklyn-based Blue Marble organic ice creams will be served on all Mint flights departing from JFK.

Mint flights departing from Los Angeles will feature ice creams from Los Angeles-based Coolhaus.

San Francisco-based Double Rainbow ice creams will be served on all Mint flights departing from San Francisco.

Mint flights departing from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood will serve ice creams from South Florida-based ice cream factory The Frieze.

Hand-made gourmet products from Boston-based Toscanini´s will be served on all Mint flights departing from Boston.

Mint is JetBlue´s premium travel expereince. It is currently offered on select flights to Aruba, Barbados, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Grenada, Los Angeles, New York, Saint Lucia, Saint Maarten and San Francisco. New service to Las Vegas and San Diego begins in 2017.

JetBlue carries more than 38 million customers a year to 101 cities in the US, Caribbean, and Latin America with an average of 1000 daily flights.

Qatar Airways becomes official sponsor of FIFA

Qatar Airways has been announced as official partner and official airline of the Fédération Internationale de Futbol Association (FIFA) as part of a sponsorship package lasting until 2022, the airline said.

Upcoming events sponsored by Qatar Airways will include the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the FIFA Club World Cup, the FIFA Women´s World Cup, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

As an Official Partner of FIFA, Qatar Airways will have extensive marketing and branding rights at the next two FIFA World Cups, and will also have visibility at competitions such as the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the FIFA Futsal World Cup, and the online FIFA Interactive World Cup.

JetSuiteX donates USD 25,000 in flights to Angel Flight West, USD 2500 travel package to Endeavor Awards

JetSuiteX is commemorating its first year of public charter service by donating USD 25,000 worth of JetSuiteX seats to Angel Flight West to help provide air travel to individuals with serious medical conditions, the company said.

The donation translates to transportation for 100 patients in NorCal, SoCal and Nevada to their treatments at some of the nation´s best medical facilities aboard JetSuiteX.

JetSuiteX also supported the Earth Angel ground transportation initiative by donating a Napa Valley air and ground travel package worth more than USD 2,500 to the Endeavor Awards silent auction. All proceeds from the auction donation will go to assisting patients with ground transportation to and from the flights and their treatment locations.

United Airlines announces increases in traffic, capacity, load factor in April 2017

United Airlines (UAL) has reported April 2017 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 7.4% and consolidated capacity (available seat miles) increased 4.0% versus April 2016, the company said.

UAL´s April 2017 consolidated load factor increased 2.6 points compared to April 2016.

The airline finished April ahead of all primary competitors in on-time departures and arrivals, as well as the fewest flight cancellations for the month.

UAL also had another record-setting month with fewer flight cancellations than any other month in the company´s history, and set a no-cancel streak record, going 145 hours without a flight cancellation.

United Airlines and United Express operate more than 4,500 flights a day to 339 airports across five continents. In 2016, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 143 million customers. The airline operates 737 mainline aircraft and its United Express partners operate 483 regional aircraft, and is a founding member of Star Alliance, which provides service to 192 countries via 28 member airlines.
