International hotel group Hilton has completed expansion of its hotel at the Munich airport, increasing capacity to 551 rooms and expanding the hotel´s meeting spaces, the Hilton Munich Airport hotel reported.
By expanding the hotel, Hilton is reacting strategically to the growth in passenger traffic out of Munich and now offers guests around 40% more rooms. It has also expanded the hotel´s meeting spaces at the extraordinary palm atrium to a capacity of up to 500 participants.
The hotel has increased its overall capacity by 162 deluxe rooms covering nearly 95,000 square feet. The north extension connects to the hotel complex by a passageway. The Hilton Munich Airport now offers guests 551 rooms. Upper floor rooms offer runway views.
The east wing of the meeting center was expanded and modernized as well, with 17 renovated or newly built event rooms with high-level technical equipment. The meeting area has space to accommodate up to 500 guests.

The SDI Team will upgrade the airport´s existing PA systems to a menu-based system capable of dispatching messages and other commonly used paging features via computer terminals, analog dial-in phones, and jet bridge microphones. Vancouver, Washington-based Onboard Systems International, Inc. has been awarded a contract from Leonardo Helicopters to provide backup Human External Cargo (HEC) hook systems for the Agusta Westland AW169 and AW101 aircraft, the company said.
The backup hooks can be added onto the primary cargo hook system for new and existing AW169 and AW101 aircraft to enable HEC operations in utility, search and rescue, personnel insertion and extraction, and other missions.
For the AW169, the backup cargo hook system will feature Onboard´s TALON LC Hydraulic Cargo Hook, which will allow for flexible rigging of the release line around the primary hook system while effectively reducing inadvertent cargo releases. The AW101 backup cargo hook system will feature the fast-rope version of Onboard´s TALON LC Cargo Hook, which is currently in use on the AW101.

Fraport Greece has commenced the 40-year concession for managing and developing 14 regional airports on the Greek mainland and popular holiday islands, the company said.
Following the operational transfer of the airports, Fraport Greece paid the upfront concession fee of EUR 1.234bn to the state-owned Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF). Along with this upfront fee, an annual fixed concession fee of EUR 22.9m will be paid to the Greek State, as well as a variable annual fee based on 28.5% of Fraport Greece´s yearly operational profit. Ownership of the airports is retained by Greece.
Under the concession agreement, Fraport Greece will be investing about EUR 400m for improving and expanding the airports´ infrastructure over the next 48 months. The company had signed an agreement with the Greek-based Intrakat construction and engineering company to refurbish, expand and build new facilities at the 14 airports.
The 14 Greek regional airports served a total of 25.3 million passengers in 2016, a 9% increase year-on-year. Fraport Greece will operate, manage and develop the airports over the next four decades – with responsibility for aviation as well as non-aviation areas.
Fraport Greece is 73.4% owned by the Frankfurt based airport operator Fraport AG and 26.6% by Copelouzos Group.

United Airlines (UAL) has reported March 2017 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles, RPM) increased 3.0% and consolidated capacity (available seat miles, ASM) increased 3.4% versus March 2016, the company said.
UAL´s March 2017 consolidated load factor decreased 0.3 points compared to March 2016.
The company expects first-quarter 2017 consolidated passenger unit revenue to be approximately flat compared to the first quarter of 2016.
