IBM's Watson predicts trends for Black Friday

IBM (NYSE: IBM) predicts online sales will grow by more than 14.5 percent over 2014.

Led by mobile shopping, consumers indicate the Apple Watch, Samsung, Sony and LG TVs, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and more are at the top of their shopping lists, according to the IBM Watson Trend App.

Available for free download in the Apple App Store, IBM Watson Trend features the hottest 100 consumer electronics, toys and health and fitness products at any given time.

For Black Friday IBM has identified additional popular products and the stories behind them:

Beats by Dre: Beats headphones, earbuds, and speakers have been wildly popular since first appearing in 2008. Watson finds growing chatter around the Beats Solo2 Wired On-Ear headphones as well as the release of Dr. Dre´s unheard tracks on Apple´s Beats 1 streaming music channel. Additional trending headphones include Sennheiser, Bose, Skullcandy and Sure.

Jordan Shoes: Known best for its original Air Jordan line of basketball sneakers, Jordan Brand has released a new line of performance running shoes. Watson finds that the line is being lauded for both their aesthetics and foot support and is gaining popularity among consumers who sported the original sneakers in the 1990s.

Nintendo Super Smash Bros: Nintendo´s Super Smash Bros for Wii U is generating significant buzz and Watson knows why. While the game features popular Nintendo characters such as Mario, Donkey Kong and Pokemon, it´s the “unprecedented” addition of Final Fantasy´s Cloud Strife that has gamers buzzing with excitement.

MeccaNoid Personal Robots: Personal robots including those from Star Wars are popular this year but many parents are also looking to more “edutainment” focused gifts. Watson reports that many parents are looking at MeccaNoid, which teaches kids from ages 8 to 12 how to create, learn and code so they can ultimately build their own robot.

IBM Watson Trend leverages natural language and machine learning technologies to uncover consumer preferences, pinpoint patterns and trends and reveal why people are choosing certain products or brands.

AT Internet looks at Impact of safe harbor rejection

AT Internet, major player in the field of digital intelligence, said it has responded to the European Court of Justice´s decision to invalidate the Safe Harbor agreement, per the 6 October 2015 ruling that the European Commission´s Decision 2000/520/EC of 26 July 2000 does not respect personal data privacy regulations.

AT Internet affirms that its data privacy policies respect the requirements of the European Commission´s Directive on Data Protection, as data collected and processed via the AT Internet solution is stored exclusively on French soil. Therefore, European companies using AT Internet´s solution are automatically compliant with this directive, as opposed to companies who transmit their data to the United States via other analytics tools.

The Safe Harbor agreement is the result of the European Commission´s Decision of 26 July 2000, conform to the European Parliament and Council Directive 95/46/EC (24 October 1995) and regarding the “adequate protection” provided by US Department of Commerce´s Safe Harbor Privacy Principles. Until now, the Safe Harbor framework permitted the transfer of European Union citizens´ personal data towards the United States, considering that the United States ensured a sufficient level of protection.

The European directive requires companies using American digital analytics technologies to obtain authorisation from each of their EU-citizen customers whose data will be processed in the United States.

AT Internet offers a maximum level of protection to its customers, illustrated by several points:

100 percent European service provider: Storage, back-up and protection of processed data is done only on proprietary servers based in France.

Completely transparent approach to privacy and data protection: France´s CNIL recommends AT Internet for its conformity to cookie regulations.

TÃœV certification: German entity TÃœV Saarland certifies that AT Internet´s data collection and processing procedures conform to data privacy and protection norms.

AT Internet is currently developing a joint white paper with Aurélie Pols, international expert in data protection and privacy issues in the digital analytics industry. The white paper´s objective is to comprehensively assess the topic and help marketing professionals sufficiently evaluate their current situation, thanks to best practices and recommendations on tools that conform to current legislation.

One of the world´s major players in digital intelligence since 1996, AT Internet helps companies measure their audience and optimise their digital performance across all channels.

Aeroflot Group passenger traffic Up 13.7%

Aeroflot PJSC (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) said the operating results of Aeroflot Group and Aeroflot – Russian Airlines for October and ten months of 2015 were significantly influenced by the Group´s participation in a major program to carry passengers of Transaero airline.

During the month of October, until all Transaero flights ceased on October 26, Transaero passengers flew aboard Transaero flights operated by Aeroflot Group as well as aboard Aeroflot Group´s own scheduled flights. A special operational centre was established to handle the situation, and it reassigned Transaero passengers with the goal of minimising financial expenses associated with carrying passengers.

Passenger traffic for Aeroflot Group in 10M 2015 was 33.5 million, up 13.7 percent year-on-year. Aeroflot airline´s passenger traffic was 22.0 million during the same period, up 10.6 percent year-on-year.

Group revenue passenger kilometres («RPKs») rose by 8.1 percent year-on-year for 10M 2015, while the company posted 10.3 percent year-on-year RPK growth. Group available seat kilometres («ASKs») increased by 7.8 percent year-on-year for 10M 2015, while the company´s ASKs increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year. Group passenger load factor increased 0.2 percentage point (p.p.) year-on-year to 79.2 percent, while the company´s passenger load factor increased by 1.0 p.p. year-on-year to 80.3 percent.

In October 2015, Aeroflot Group passenger traffic was 3.4 million, up 17.9 percent year-on-year. Aeroflot airline´s passenger traffic was 2.3 million, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent.

Group and company RPKs increased by 11.3 percent and 11.9 percent year-on-year, respectively, in October 2015. ASKs for the same period rose by 9.3 percent year-on-year for Aeroflot Group and by 8.8 percent for Aeroflot airline.

On domestic routes, Group traffic and RPKs grew by 37.1 percent and 31.1 percent year-on-year, respectively, in October 2015. This was mainly attributable to increased demand for domestic flights, growth of in-country tourism, a rise in low-cost travel, combined with a 29.0 percent year-on-year increase in ASKs, including increased flight frequencies on high-demand routes. company traffic and RPKs on domestic routes in October 2015 were up 17.9 percent and 17.2 percent year-on-year, respectively, driven by increased demand for domestic flights and a corresponding increase in ASKs of 13.4 percent.

On international routes, Group traffic and RPKs were down by 3.1 percent and 1.8 percent year-on-year, respectively, in October 2015. This decline was attributable to a 3.4 percent year-on-year decrease in ASKs on international routes, as the Group continued to optimise capacities in its subsidiaries (mainly in the charter flights segment) and reallocate capacity to domestic routes. Aeroflot airline´s traffic and RPKs on international routes increased by 8.8 percent and 8.8 percent year-on-year, respectively, in October 2015.

In October 2015, the passenger load factor increased by 1.4 p.p. year-on-year to 78.8 percent for the Group and by 2.2 p.p. year-on-year to 80.6 percent for the company.

Contemporary art greets passengers at Paris-Orly Airport

Aéroports de Paris (Paris: ADP) (OTC Pink: AEOPF) said it has partnered with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to transform the airport experience of passengers, partners and Paris-Orly airport employees into giant-size images.

These sketches are now displayed on the 3,200 meters-squared façade of the Paris-Orly South Terminal.

“This work of contemporary art illustrates the degree of intimacy linking the airport to all those who give it life, holding important moments of their past. It embodies our aim for continuous improvement in our customer service and echoes the desire of Aéroports de Paris to work on radiating French culture. This collaboration with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a renowned artist, is the material expression of our commitment”, stresses Augustin de Romanet, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Paris.

After spending 10 days putting up the work of art, on 26 November Jean-Charles de Castelbajac put the finishing touches to the giant fresco, installed over the whole length of the Orly South Terminal façade. Covering a huge expanse measuring 17 metres in height and 202 metres in width, an area equivalent to that of just over 16 tennis courts, this decoration is made up of a set of 10 drawings by the artist, with the addition of “Bienvenue” in enormous letters and the name of the event, “Welcomestories”.

To collect these personal accounts, Aéroports de Paris had asked its passengers and partners to tell their best stories linked to the airport. Homecomings, separations, anniversaries and marriage proposals have been interpreted by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and transformed into a monumental work of art that now adorns the South Terminal façade.
