US IT group Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL) said it had agreed to buy local end-point data protection and management solutions provider Credant Technologies Inc, without disclosing the financial details of the deal.
With the planned purchase, Dell will foster its portfolio of computing solutions and make them more manageable, reliable and security engineered, the suitor added.
The move complements Dell’s steps to enlarge its security portfolio over the past three years as it seeks to provide clients with the full range of security solutions.
Dell also plans to use Credant’s expertise in data protection to make its Dell Latitude, OptiPlex and Precision PCs some of the most secure devices globally, Jeff Clarke, president of End User Computing Solutions at Dell, commented.
Credant, headquartered in Addison, Texas, currently secures over 2m endpoints and has customers across a wide number of industries. The company protects and encrypts consumer and business data stored on Pcs, mobile devices and public clouds.
