American Airlines makes sustainable decision to eliminate plastic straws

American Airlines has announced it will eliminate straws from its lounges and instead serve drinks with a biodegradable, eco-friendly straw and bamboo stir stick, the company said.

The air said the decision is a step to reduce its impact on the environment through its initiate to reduce the amount of plastic used on board its planes and in its lounges.

With these changes, American will eliminate more than 71,000 pounds of plastic per year.

American Airlines and American Eagle offer an average of nearly 6,700 flights per day to nearly 350 destinations in more than 50 countries.
