Flights to Haiti cancelled amid violent protests over gas prices

Miami Herald has reported U.S. airlines have canceled all flights to Port-au-Prince, Haiti amid violence protests on the island nation over gas prices, the Herald said.

Flights remain canceled until further notice even though Haiti´s Prime Minister announced the price adjustment was being temporarily suspended.

On July 6, the Commerce and Economic Ministry of the Haitian government announced that fuel prices would be rising as of midnight. The increases were set at 38 percent for gasoline, 47 percent for diesel and 51 percent for kerosene.

American Airlines, Spirit Airlines and Jet Blue have temporarily cancelled flights from the US to Haiti.
