Alaska Air reports 11% traffic increase in May 2016

Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) has reported an 11.6 percent increase in traffic in May 2016 on an 11.3 percent increase in capacity, compared to May 2015, the company said.

Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE: ALK) includes Alaska Airlines, Inc. (Alaska), operated by subsidiary Horizon Air Industries, Inc. and third-party regional carriers, SkyWest Airlines and PenAir, the company said.

Alaska Airlines has reported a 10.8 percent increase in traffic in May 2016 on a 10.1 percent increase in capacity compared to May 2015. Load factor increased 0.6 points to 85.4 percent. Alaska also reported 90.3 percent of its flights arrived on-time in May, compared to 88.0 percent reported in May 2015.

Regional traffic increased 19.7 percent on a 22.5 percent increase in capacity compared to May 2015. Load factor decreased 1.9 points to 79.6 percent.

Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, together with its partner regional airlines, serves more than 100 cities through a network in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
