Virgin America said it has reported its preliminary operational results for June 2014 and the first six months of the year.
The airline´s traffic (measured in revenue passenger miles) increased 0.5 percent on capacity (measured in available seat miles) that was 0.9 percent lower than in the same month in 2013.
Load factor was 86.1 percent, up 1.2 points from June 2013. The number of onboard passengers decreased 2.4 percent from the same month last year.
Headquartered in California´s Silicon Valley and known for its mood-lit cabins, touch-screen personal entertainment, WiFi and power outlets at every seat, Virgin America has built a loyal following of flyers and earned a host of awards since launching in 2007. For the past two years, Virgin America has topped the Airline Quality Rating, a research project conducted by faculty at Wichita State University and Embry Riddle that analyzes airline operational performance as reported by the Department of Transportation.
