WestJet names new chief information officer

WestJet said it has appointed Rocky Wiggins to the position of executive vice-president and chief information officer, effective June 2, 2014.

Wiggins joins WestJet from Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines where he has held the position of chief information officer since 2012. Prior to his work with Sun Country, he was senior vice-president and chief information officer at AirTran Airways, and before that vice-president responsible for delivery management at Sabre Airline Solutions, which makes the airline platform used by WestJet. He also held various positions over a 20-year career with US Airways.

Wiggins studied physics at Guilford University and engineering at Western Kentucky University, and has an MBA from Wake Forest University.

WestJet offers scheduled service to more than 85 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. Its website is at westjet.com.
