Sikorsky gets maintenance contract for Navy pilot training aircraft

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. said it has announced the award of a maintenance and support services contract for more than 360 aircraft operated by the chief of naval air training.

Valued at an estimated USD110m, the work is expected to be completed in October 2014. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The contract was awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), based at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland. Sikorsky is providing program and material management, scheduled inspections, depot level maintenance, required repairs, modifications and logistical support for Naval Air Training undergraduate missions. Aircraft variants include the single-engine T-34, the twin engine T-44A and T-44C, and the single-engine T-6A and T-6B.
