Low sales in RF microwave amps causes decrease in Comtech Q1 2014 net sales

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) reported its net sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2014 were USD83.4m compared to USD91.0m for the first quarter of fiscal 2013.

The company said the period-over-period decrease reflects lower net sales in the company´s RF microwave amplifiers and mobile data communications segments, partially offset by higher sales in its telecommunications transmission segment.

GAAP net income was USD5.3m, or USD0.28 per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2014 as compared to USD7.4m, or USD0.36 per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2013.

Adjusted EBITDA was USD14.3m for the first quarter of fiscal 2014, as compared to USD18.5m for the comparative period in fiscal 2013.
