WestJet pilots have vote down tentative agreement

Canadian carrier WestJet said that its pilots have voted against a tentative labour agreement by a margin of 58.7 %.

Turnout was very strong, the carrier said, with 96 % of pilots voting.

The current agreement remains in effect until a new agreement is reached. Pilots at WestJet are represented by the WestJet Pilots Association (WJPA), a non-union employee association.

WestJet operates a fleet of more than 100 Boeing (NYSE: BA) Next-Generation 737 and Bombardier (TSX: BBD-B) Q400 NextGen aircraft. This year, WestJet launched its new regional airline, WestJet Encore.
