Boeing's El Paso plant passes milestone

US airframer Boeing (NYSE: BA) and the city of El Paso marked three decades of advanced electronics manufacturing for products ranging from spacecraft to fighter jets, bombers and missiles the company said.

Boeing El Paso opened in 1983 and has supported major programs such as the International Space Station, the B-1B bomber, Patriot missiles, Minuteman ICBMs and the F-15 and F/A-18 fighters.

To further enhance its competitiveness, the site is pursuing US Federal Aviation Administration certification and preparing to take on electronics work for commercial aviation.
