Utah USA-based carrier SkyWest Inc (NASDAQ: SKYW) reported that its passenger boardings for August increased 1.3% to 5,510,411 compared to 5,442,243 for the same period last year.
SkyWest also reported a 4.0% increase in revenue passenger miles for August, while available seat miles increased 4.3% compared to August 2012.
The combined airlines generated 2.8bn RPMs for the month, while ASMs increased to 3.5bn. Load factor decreased to 82.5% compared to 82.7% in August 2012. SkyWest also reported a decrease of 0.9% in departures to 129,461 for August compared to 130,628 for the same period last year.
SkyWest is the holding company for two scheduled passenger airline operations and an aircraft leasing company. The firm´s scheduled passenger airline operations consist of SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines. SkyWest Airlines operates as United Express (NYSE: UAL), Delta Connection (NYSE: DAL), American Eagle (OTC: AAMRQ) and US Airways Express (NYSE: LCC) carriers under contractual agreements with these brands.
The firm also operates flights for Alaska Airlines (NYSE: ALK) under a contractual agreement. ExpressJet Airlines operates as United Express, Delta Connection, and American Eagle carriers under contractual agreements with United, Delta and American.
System-wide, SkyWest serves markets in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean with approximately 4,200 daily departures and a fleet of approximately 759 regional aircraft.
