Grupo Aeromexico sees August demand increase

Mexican airline operator Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B. de CV (BMV: AEROMEX) said that its demand in August 2013 increased 8.7% year-on-year; the most significant monthly increase reported since February 2012.

Aeromexico said that the total number of passengers it transported increased by 7.5% year-on-year, reaching a total of 1m 389 thousand passengers during August 2013. Aeromexico´s capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers, increased 3.3% year-on-year.

The August load factor was therefore 79.4%; a four percentage point increase, year-on-year.

Year to date, Aeromexico has reached 90.1% on-time departure; a 12 % age point improvement, year-on-year.

Grupo Aeromexico is a holding company with subsidiaries engaged in commercial aviation in Mexico and the promotion of passenger loyalty programmes. The group operates more than 600 daily flights from its main hub in Terminal 2 at the Mexico City International Airport.

Its destinations network features more than 80 cities on three continents, including 47 destinations in Mexico, 18 in the United States, 11 in Latin America, three in Europe, two in Asia and one in Canada.

The group´s current fleet includes Boeing (NYSE: BA) 787, 777, 767 and 737 jet airliners and Embraer (NYSE: ERJ) 145, 170, 175 and 190 models. In 2012, Aeromexico announced the most important investment plan in aviation history in Mexico with its intention to buy 100 Boeing aircraft including 90 737 MAX jet airliners and ten 787-9 Dreamliners.
