Malaysia Ailrines appoints new senior managers and unveils structure of new short-haul airline

Malaysia Airlines on Tuesday announced the appointment of two new members to its senior management team and unveiled the management structure of its new short-haul airline.

On 1 February 2012 Azhari Mohd Dahlan will join MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE) as chief executive officer. Prior to his appointment with MAE Mohd Dahlan was regional head of engineering for AirAsia Berhad.

Puan Zahrag Zaid will be taking on the position of executive vice president of human capital with the carrier from 8 February 2012. Zaid is replacing Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin who is leaving the carrier in the middle of February 2012.

The carrier also announced the organisational structure of its new unit to manage its short-haul airline operations. The new carrier will operate the short-haul routes of Malaysia Airlines and the Firefly ATR turboprop business and it has a working target to be launched by the second quarter of 2012.

The new carrier will be led by chief executive officer, short haul Mohammed Rashdan Yusof, chief operation officer, short haul will be Ignatius Ong Ming Choy.
