US investment bank Morgan Stanley sells DigitalGlobe stake

Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) has divested its remaining legacy ownership interest in some 7.5m ordinary shares of US earth imagery products provider DigitalGlobe Inc (NYSE:DGI), the pair said.

The companies’ relationship started over a decade ago, they said without giving any further details about the share sale.

DigitalGlobe wrapped up its USD900m (EUR688.1m) acquisition of geospatial information firm GeoEye Inc (NASDAQ:GEOY) in January.

The amalgamated company is seen to be a global leader in earth imagery and geospatial analysis with a beefed up financial profile, an expanded range of services and advanced capabilities, the companies had said.

Based on the closing price of DigitalGlobe stock on 30 January 2013, the day before the finalisation of the deal, the enlarged entity has a market capitalisation of USD2.1bn.
