UK telecommunications major Vodafone Group Plc (LON:VOD) has appointed Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) as advisor on a possible bid for German cable operator Kabel Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:KD8), Reuters said today quoting knowledgeable sources.
Earlier today, Bloomberg cited insiders as saying that Kabel had hired Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) and Perella Weinberg Partners LP to counsel it in case of an approach. Although
The sources said that chief executive Adrian Von Hammerstein might be willing to preserve Kabel Deutschland’s independence,but the company will consider the financial and strategic merits of a possible offer.
Reuters could not immediately contact any of the parties for comment.
A knowledgeable source said last week that Vodafone planned to start negotiations with Kabel after the target published its earnings report on Wednesday.
